The flight duration depends on weather, but here’s the math: a paraglider naturally descends at about 1 meter per second in calm air. FlySapa’s take-off point is 1,900m, and the landing zone is 1,400m, giving a 500m height difference. So even in neutral conditions, a typical tandem flight lasts around 8 minutes and 20 seconds. When the sun is out and thermals are strong, flights can last much longer. But really — don’t count the minutes. Count the feeling of freedom, peace, and flight. Most of our guests say it’s a life-changing experience, and nobody ever checks the clock up there.

“Tandem” means you and a professional pilot fly together under one wing. The pilot sits behind, and you sit in front — for the safest setup and best view. You’re both connected through a certified system including a main wing and a large rescue parachute (capable of carrying both pilot and passenger safely). There are misleading comments online claiming rescue chutes are for one person — that’s incorrect. Tandem systems are built to safely handle both people and all equipment.

Take-off and landing are always handled by the pilot. However, once you’re high in the sky, with plenty of altitude and safety clearance, the pilot may let you try gentle turns under their supervision — if you’d like to feel how it works. In tandem paragliding, frankly, the biggest risk usually comes from passenger hesitation during take-off — especially when the ground starts to slope. Some people subconsciously slow down or stop running. That’s why we always remind you: run, don’t stop (unless being told to). We’ll go over this carefully in your safety briefing and even let you practice running to make it natural. The flight itself is very safe. Most risks involve simple human errors (like forgetting to clip in buckles) — but FlyDalat's redundant safety system and triple checks by multiple people to eliminate those completely. Modern tandem paragliders can safely handle up to 220 kg total (pilot + passenger + gear). At FlyDalat, we accept passengers between 20 kg and 110 kg. We match you with the right pilot and equipment — some pilots are larger, some smaller — to ensure balance, safety, and comfort.
